K&N Releases Cold Air Intake for 2006 & 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt
K&N Engineering has designed a new cold air intake, part number 69-4517TTK, in textured black for the 2006 and 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt 2.4 liter engine. Built for performance and show K&N Typhoon Air Intakes are proven on a rear-wheel dynamometer to increase horsepower and torque.
K&N dynamometer test shows almost a 16 HP gain @ 5900 RPM for this K&N air intake. The 69-4517TTK uses the factory Mass Air Flow sensor and a reusable K&N High Flow Air Filter.
The heat shield isolates the K&N engine compartment and allows the K&N Air Filter to receive a consistent flow of cool fresh outside air. The Cobalt’s mass air sensor is installed in the K&N intake tube and is an important part of the overall horsepower gain with this system.
It takes 90 minutes or less to install most K&N Cold Air Intakes with common tools. K&N Air Intake Systems come with the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.

2009 Chevrolet Camaro Concept
The muscular Camaro concept is pure ‘69 updated, with the kind of subtle detailing that makes it look up-to-the-minute. The interior is very glitzy, and pays homage to the original, even down to the GM seat belt insignia and the twin instrument pods.
The car is 186.2 inches long and rides on a 110.5-inch wheelbase. The wheels are 21s at the front and 22s at the rear, shod with monster 275/30 front and 305/30 rear tires, which should be able to corral the 400 horses from the LS2 6.0-liter V-8 engine powering through a six-speed manual transmission. The show car has a cobbled together chassis with an all-independent suspension, but if it makes it into production, it will use the so-called Zeta Lite architecture that will be shared with Holden in Australia. The good news for GM is that the architecture–while hardly cutting edge–is far more sophisticated than the live-axle Mustang. Insiders say that a $20,000 base model production car could use an inexpensive V-8 (the LS2 would come in a costlier model), so a V-6 version would be offered only to make the car easier to insure. The real car would have smaller wheels, but the overall diameter of the tires wouldn’t be much changed.
Improved 2007 Chevrolet Aveo Sedan
The 2007 Aveo sedan boasts an all-new exterior and roomy interior design characterized by youthful refinement; a more confident, dynamic driving experience and generous features usually seen in more expensive cars. It was designed to challenge expectations of what an entry-level car can deliver.
“Customers will recognize the Aveo sedan as a ‘smart buy’ that delivers on Chevy’s Total Value Promise,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “With its good looks, enjoyable driving experience and ‘big car’ personality, Aveo plays a big role in Chevy’s passenger car family.”
In redesigning the sedan, the Aveo team reached beyond the important affordability factor to overachieve all-around, with great design, a smooth, safe driving experience and amenities that until now were rare in the segment.
The 2007 Aveo sedan is available in LS and LT models, and illustrates Chevy’s philosophy of offering more for less. Both models offer many standard features and an impressive range of options. The 2007 Aveo sedan builds on advancements, such as standard side-impact air bags, implemented during the 2006 model year. The new LS and LT sedans join the Aveo5 hatchback LS and Special Value Model. (Please see separate release for more information on Aveo5).
The Aveo sedan is well-equipped, with standard features that include a five-speed manual transmission; 1.6L 16-valve E-TEC II DOHC that delivers 103 horsepower (77kW) and 107 lb.-ft. of torque; air conditioning with cabin filtration and rear-seat air vents; vented front disc and rear drum brakes; stainless steel exhaust; and front MacPherson strut suspension with rear semi-independent with torsion beam suspension.
Other standard features include:
• Power rack-and-pinion steering
• Intermittent windshield wipers
• Dual-stage frontal driver and passenger air bags and seat-mounted side-impact air bags
• Body-color outside rearview mirrors and door handles
• AM/FM stereo radio with auxiliary input jack (for an iPod or other device)
• Driver’s seat with fold-down armrest, manual height adjuster and manual lumbar adjuster
• 60/40 split-folding rear seats with height-adjustable head restraints for outboard passengers
• Tilt steering wheel
• Tilting head restraints
• Rear window defogger
• Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs)
• Sunglass and ticket holders
• Driver and front passenger seatback map pockets on all models

2008 Chevrolet Malibu Debuts At All-Star Game
The all-new 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid prides itself for being the the most refined new midsize sedan in the neighborhood and also one of the most fuel efficent. Last July 6, 2007, it had its world debut along with baseball stars at the All Star Fan Zone in San Francisco.
The Chevrolet Malibu is powered by the GM Hybrid System and it delivers an EPA rating of 24 mpg city and 32 mpg highway — a two-mpg increase over the non-hybrid four-cylinder model — and will be Chevrolet value-priced, offering customers an affordable hybrid choice.
According to Ed Peper, Chevrolet General Manager,”The beauty of the Chevy Malibu Hybrid is that customers don’t have to choose between a stylish, expressive, fuel-saving sedan full of standard content and the gasoline that goes in the tank. The Malibu Hybrid’s winning package of uncompromising design and fuel economy will help us assert leadership in the midsize sedan segment and meet the needs of Chevy customers.”
Production of the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is scheduled to begin in October, with vehicles arriving in dealerships shortly thereafter. The system will be available as a powertrain option on the base LS model, which also features Electric Power Steering, Automatic Climate Control and the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system.
The GM Hybrid system featured on the Malibu Hybrid saves fuel by using sophisticated controls and software, as well as a unique, 36-volt electric motor/generator mated to GM Powertrain’s 2.4L Ecotec VVT four-cylinder engine and Hydra-Matic 4T45 four-speed transmission. The GM Hybrid system maintains the vehicle’s sporty feel and seamlessly reduces fuel consumption by:
*Shutting off the engine when the vehicle is stopped, to minimizeidling
*Restarting the engine promptly when the brake pedal is released
*Enabling early fuel shut-off during vehicle deceleration
*Capturing vehicle kinetic energy during deceleration through regenerative braking to charge the advanced nickel metal hydride battery
*Performing intelligent battery charging when it is most efficient
The GM Hybrid system provides additional power, when required, during launch from the electric motor/generator. At wide-open throttle, such as during a passing maneuver, the system enhances acceleration by using the motor/generator to bolster the gasoline engine and achieve maximum power.
The GM Hybrid system also is designed to automatically maintain full accessory functionality — including climate control — when the vehicle is stopped, so that hybrid operation is seamless to the driver and passengers. The Malibu Hybrid delivers an appropriate balance of fuel economy and cabin comfort with an air conditioning system with two selectable modes. The Hybrid A/C mode favors more fuel-efficient performance by limiting the draw on the hybrid powertrain, while the normal mode provides maximum passenger comfort in hot climates and enhances defogging performance.
Malibu Hybrid models also has specific exterior appointments such as 16-inch low rolling resistance tires and unique hybrid badging. Inside, a special gauge cluster provides information and feedback about the hybrid powertrain’s operation.
The 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid is covered by GM’s five-year / 100,000-mile powertrain warranty, the most comprehensive in the industry. In addition, the Malibu Hybrid?s advanced nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery pack is covered by an eight-year / 100,000-mile warranty.
GM Hopes Exposure in Transformers Movie Will Increase Sales
GM considers the hit movie “Transformers” a great chance to advertise their cars and therefore increase their sales. In the movie, four of GM’s vehicles are featured namely the Chevrolet Camaro, Pontiac Solstice, GMC TopKick and Hummer H2.
According to Dino Benacchi, GM’s associate director of branded entertainment, ‘”You’re going to see these cars as the heroes. You’re not going to see the other actors. These cars are the stars, literally, in the movie.”
GM, which long has sought to reach younger car buyers to so-so results, is hoping to draw the 18-to-34 set to its showrooms thanks to the company’s oversized presence in the film and in the accompanying toys and video games.
The Detroit auto giant is spending millions to promote and market its ”Transformers” tie-ins, but wouldn’t give a figure. With a shrinking U.S. automotive market and amid stiff competition from overseas rivals, GM is banking on the exposure translating into sales.
“This is hopefully a discovery point for maybe some of those who didn’t know the great design, the great-looking vehicles that we have out today,” Bernacchi said. ‘” find it really difficult to believe that a global blockbuster movie like this that has so many merchandising components to it that we’re not going to get incremental exposure.”
The word ”Camaro” is mentioned a handful of times by various characters, and close-ups of the Chevy, Pontiac, GMC and Hummer logos get ample screen time.
“Product placement has never been so blatant, and the potential for a global platform to build brand awareness could not have come at a better time for GM,” said David Koehler, a clinical marketing professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. “The younger demographic most likely to flock to the theaters is exactly what GM needs,” he added.
Chevrolet WTCC Ultra Concept Car
The Chevrolet WTCC Ultra concept car debuted in last year’s Paris Motor Show and it was definitely the star of the show.
The compact WTCC Ultra (length/width/height with spoiler: 4,324/1,906/1,569 mm, wheelbase: 2,650 mm) is equipped with a powerful 1,991 cm3 diesel unit generating 139 kW/190 hp. The basic version of the four-cylinder engine is the common rail unit with four-valve technology and variable turbine blade geometry currently powering the Chevrolet Captiva. The increase in performance was achieved by raising the turbo boost pressure.
The WTCC Ultra also has a sophisticated independent wheel suspension on McPherson struts on both axles. The lower wheel control at the front is taken care of by an A-frame arm, while at the back, two additional wishbones and one trailing arm link the wheels precisely to the chassis.
To keep the unladen weight as low as possible, the designers of the WTCC Ultra have made plenty of use of modern lightweight materials. The body parts are finished in “Stealth Blue”, a further development of the familiar Chevrolet blue, and are made of a glass fibre and carbon fibre laminate. The flat underbody of the fully functioning touring concept car, which also graphically divides up the vehicle because of its dark colour, and the front and rear spoilers are made of a plain weave carbon fibre composite. The window frames and the air inlet grilles at the front are finished in semi gloss dark grey. They make an attractive contrast with the glossy silver-painted wheels and the polished aluminium door handles, number plate and centrally positioned tailpipes.
Another aerodynamic feature apart from the flat underbody and the spoilers is a rear diffuser to create additional downforce.
Did you also know that he interior was inspired by the movie Batman Begins? This means that raw dark surfaces were used, and one part of the dashboard was finished in rubberized paint, like Batman’s suit.
The production version Chevrolet WTCC Ultra concept car is said to be released in 2008.
